So at work today I was talking to my really good friend Chevelle, about "Precious" it's a new movie that will be released soon, directed by Oprah and Tyler Perry (whom I absolutely Love) Anyways it's a fabulous trailer ( you really have to watch it for yourselves) But it shows a mom who keeps putting down her daughter, treating her like dirt, making her feel worthless. Other teens making fun of her. So she's walking around thinking that she really is nothing and has no self esteem because of her surroundings.
Well while we were talking chevelle brings up the point "Sticks and stones will break your bones but names will never hurt you."
I remember in the third grad my teacher told me that and was told to "Get over it" now looking back on the whole thing I'm like ... I'll take the sticks and stones... cause bruises on the body go away bruises on the soul.. can last A LOT longer.

ReplyDeleteWelcome to the world of blogging. I will have to check out the trailer. I heard you guys talking about it briefly at work. Just the info about a others and a Mom treating her daughter this way breaks my heart. I know...my children's hearts have been broken too many times by their real M.O.M. I am so thankful to hear my children tell me, how nice I am to them. I say nice things about them. Their other mom was mean and told them they can't do anything. It makes me angry to hear parents belittling their children when they need to be building their confidence and help them grow into better adults.
